X12 or EDI X12 is a widely accepted format that allows two trading partners to exchange electronic business documents (like orders, invoices, deliveries, packing slips, etc.) to each other, using a common format. In the X12 EDI standard, the documents are assigned 3-digit numbers like 810 for invoice, 832 for price/sales catalog, 836 for health care claims, and 850 for purchase documents. To carry out a transaction, trading partners need to exchange sets, meaning that the need to have a method of transmitting the document. Alumio offers the following methods: Mail, VAN, FTP, sFTP, FTPS, and we have additional modules to support AS2 and OFTP (file transfer protocols that are designed for transmitting EDI and have specific security functions and certificates).
