Obelink is a renowned Dutch company specializing in camping and outdoor products. What began as a family-run business in 1959 swiftly transitioned into one of the largest camping and outdoor stores in Europe, selling across seven webshops in several European countries. With over sixty years of successful business experience, Obelink has become a key player in the industry and anticipates an equally successful future. To keep up with rapidly evolving customer demand and to adapt to new markets, Obelink decided to accelerate its digital transformation with application integrations.
Like many longstanding organizations, Obelink already had a complex set of applications with multiple data silos at the start of the project. Among these applications were an ERP system, a WMS, a POS, and an e-commerce platform. If that wasn’t enough, a PIM system was due to be added into the mix. With a future-focused vision, Obelink's objective was to create standardized e-commerce processes to support total digitalization and accommodate rapid expansion.
This led them to discover the Alumio cloud-native, low-code integration platform, which could help Obelink develop, manage, and orchestrate unlimited application integrations.
Using the Alumio integration platform, Obelink integrated the following applications: Adobe Commerce for e-commerce, RetailVista for their ERP and POS solution, and RealtimeWMS as their Warehouse Management System, with the possibility of a PIM integration.
The reason Obelink switched to Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento) was for future-proofing. The platform’s modern, API-led architecture enables modular modification, wherein a component that no longer meets future requirements can be swiftly replaced by one that does. As for RetailVista, it offers Obelink an excellent ERP and POS cloud solution with flexible and integration-friendly features. Alumio also enabled Obelink with the capability of unlocking and unifying data from legacy and homegrown systems.
Apart from helping Obelink integrate all its disparate applications into one well-connected commerce ecosystem, it also helped digitalize and automate key business processes. Some of the processes that were also integrated and synchronized within the project include Obelink’s B2C customer (company and contacts) data login and account creation process, product stock and availability, omnichannel order process POS, e-commerce via RetailVista.
A major challenge that the Alumio integration platform helped Obelink solve was enabling and streamlining its loyalty points program. It did so by helping seamlessly synchronize their gift cards across all integrated applications, i.e., ERP, WMS, POS, and their webshop.
