Founded in 2013, Zorgboodschap is a leading Dutch B2B food service provider that delivers everything from fresh products to convenience items, including groceries and medical nutrition, to hospitals, elderly care institutions, and mental health centers. Each day, over 150 healthcare organizations across the Netherlands—spanning over 6,000 locations—rely on Zorgboodschap for high-quality groceries, meals, and non-food items, cementing their strong reputation in the industry.
With a growing operation, Zorgboodschap needed a scalable, seamless, and efficient integration solution. Their complex ecosystem, comprising Shopware for e-commerce, Microsoft Dynamics for ERP, WISE for warehouse management, Inriver for PIM, and Slimstock for inventory management, presented significant integration challenges.
The primary driver behind Zorgboodschap’s integration project was to efficiently integrate Microsoft Dynamics ERP with the new Shopware e-commerce platform. Previously, Zorgboodschap relied on a Reflex ERP system with Drupal CMS, linked by point-to-point integrations that struggled to handle the complexity of their expanding business needs. They needed a solution capable of handling a comprehensive system landscape transformation.
Alumio was chosen based on its ability to connect systems across different providers and handle real-time integration needs. Its flexible architecture aligned well with Zorgboodschap’s chosen systems, including Shopware and Dynamics ERP, while ensuring efficient coordination with Synetic as the implementation partner.
Before the transformation, Zorgboodschap operated with Reflex ERP, Drupal e-commerce, and a series of direct point-to-point integrations. This setup was challenging to scale and complicated to maintain. Moving to a new digital ecosystem with Shopware, Dynamics ERP, WISE WMS, Inriver PIM, and Slimstock inventory management, Zorgboodschap positioned Alumio at the center as the primary integration layer. This setup provided a unified platform that streamlined data flow, minimized error points, and set a foundation for future scalability.
Alumio’s solution offered dynamic integrations across systems, enabling real-time visibility into processes and empowering Zorgboodschap to respond to operational needs promptly. This central hub structure was, for instance, very effective for managing annual price updates, reducing the time required from three weeks to just a few hours—a crucial efficiency gain for Zorgboodschap.
The implementation balanced structured planning with agile, responsive adjustments to meet evolving business needs. Initially, the integration required extensive coordination between Zorgboodschap, Synetic, and Alumio, as each organization faced a learning curve in establishing workflows. Alumio’s flexibility became a major asset, enabling quick additions to integrations when unforeseen needs arose.
By enabling ongoing communication and iterative adjustments, the team was able to overcome initial challenges. The flexible configuration of Alumio’s platform allowed for mid-implementation changes, ensuring that Zorgboodschap’s unique business requirements were met without delay.
Zorgboodschap’s partnership with Alumio has transformed its digital landscape, creating a flexible, efficient, and scalable integration solution that meets the demands of a complex B2B food service operation. By streamlining integrations across critical platforms, Alumio has helped Zorgboodschap achieve substantial time savings, enhanced data visibility, and a solid foundation for future growth.
